Information und configuration hints for SIP provider GELSEN-NET (Germany)

General information

The Voice NGNadaptive SIP Trunk from GELSEN-NET was first tested and released with SwyxWare

The Voice NGNadaptive SIP Trunk from GELSEN-NET can only be used on Internet connections provided by GELSEN-NET. For this, GELSEN-NET will provide a separate geateway, which also acts as SIP proxy. The Voice NGNadaptive SIP Trunk from GELSEN-NET is a SIP Trunk with user authentication, i.e. you receive information on user ID, user name and password. The names may differ, or you may only receive a name or ID with password. In this case the user ID is identical to the user name when configuring the SIP trunk in SwyxWare.

The actual interoperability tests were performed by GELSEN-NET, not by the Swyx TAP.

SwyxWare: The Voice NGNadaptive SIP Trunk from GELSEN-NET can be used from SwyxWare on. When using an earlier version of SwyxWare, incompatibilities cannot be excluded and use is at your own risk.

SwyxON: The Voice NGNadaptive SIP Trunk from GELSEN-NET is not suitable for central connection in the data center due to the dependency from the internet access.

When creating the SIP trunk group, select the profile 'GELSEN-NET (DE)'. If the profile is not included in the corresponding list, you can download the required CustomProviderProfiles.config for SwyxWare at the end of this article. For more information about using this file, see Configuration and Adaptation of SIP Providers via Provider Profiles (kb3436).

The local IP address of the gateway which also acts as SIP proxy, is individual per customer. Therefore it is not possible to preconfigure the Registrar / Proxy Server in the "SIP" tab of the Trunkgroup Properties dialog. In field of Registrar / Proxy Server, please enter the server name or IP address provided by GELSEN-NET.

After creating the trunk group, in the property settings of the trunk group, on tab 'Profile', it is necessary to to add special number replacement rules. The following rules need to be added for inbound, calling party:
00* -> +*
+*  -> +*
0*   -> +[cc]*
*     -> +[cc][ac]*

When creating the actual SIP trunk, a SIP URI must be entered after configuration of the phone number range so that incoming calls can be assigned. The assigned number block must be taken into account in the correct format.

Number block: +49 231 9988776600 ... +49 231 9988776699
In this case, the SIP URI must be entered in the format 004923199887766*@*.

In the properties of the SIP Trunk, tab 'Number Signalling', for the feature CLIP No Screening, the option "Always use originators number" has to be selected.
