New Default-Jumper-Configuration at SX2 PRI ISDN cards (kb4153)

Summary

Starting from August 2010 Swyx will ship all PRI ISDN cards with a new Default-Jumper-Configuration for the connection at the E1 access. The new Default-Jumper-Configuration is adjusted for the current, common line configuration provided by most of the PSTN carriers. Hereby it should be possible to connect the cards directly at the common E1 access without the need to change the Jumper-Configuration before. In addition to that the second E1 connector of the DualPRI cards is configured for the usage in standby scenarios, that means it is configured in NT-mode and the relevant jumper for standby operation is set.

In order to identify the cards with the new Default-Jumper-Configuration they will be shipped with the relevant information enclosed in the first month.


Information

The new Default-Jumper-Configuration of the first E1 interface now reflects the following PIN assignment:

PIN1 = RX+
PIN2 = RX-
PIN4 = TX+
PIN5 = TX-

The new default-Jumper-Configuration of the second E1 interface of the DualPRI cards now reflects the following PIN assignment:

PIN1 = TX+
PIN2 = TX-
PIN4 = RX+
PIN5 = RX-

Therefore the jumpers of the different cards are configured by default as follows:

The following description assumes you have the card in front of you with the RJ-45 sockets on the left side and the PCI resp. PCI-Express connector pointing in your direction. Each RJ-45 socket has two jumper blocks assigned. The Dual PRI card provides these two jumper blocks for each of the two RJ-45 E1 interfaces. Throughout this description the jumper block containing 2 jumpers is named "JB2" and that one containing 5 jumpers is named "JB5". The information "right", "left", "upper side" or "down side" means that either all jumpers are on the block's left side, the right side, the upper side or the down side, e.g. "JB5 = left" means that all jumpers of JB5 are jumpered to the left side.

SB2 = left
SB5 = left

SX2 DualPRI PCI Express :

1. E1 interface:
SB2 = left
SB5 = left

2. E1 interface:
SB2 = left
SB5 = right

Jumper block for Standby-support:
The 6 PIN jumper between both RJ-45 interfaces is plugged in
 

SX2 DualPRI PCI  :

1. E1 interface:
SB2 = upper side
SB5 = left

2. E1 interface:
SB2 = upper side
SB5 = right
