For information on the features available on some Nokia WLAN phones in connection with
SwyxWare, please refer to the following article: General information on SIP devices/endpoints (kb2898)
1. SwyxWare Configuration
Start the SwyxWare Administration and open the server properties.
Open the on the "Preferences" tab and make sure that the field
"Default Realm for SIP Devices" does not contain any capital letters.
Close the server properties and create a SwyxWare User for the telephone.
In this example, the user name for the phone is "e61". Please make sure that
the user name and the user ID are identical.
This concludes the first configuration part in SwyxWare.
2. Nokia Configuration
For the configuration of a Nokia WLAN phone, you need a WLAN connection.
When you have made sure your WLAN connection is functioning, move to the
following menu: Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection
Select the option "SIP Settings".
Create a new SIP profile here.
You can choose any name as "Profile name", e.g. "SwyxSip". The "Service profile"
must be set to "IETF". Under "Default access point", select the WLAN access you
want to use for this SIP connection.
Use a SIP URI of the following form as "Public user name":
<SwyxWare User ID>@<name of the SwyxServer computer>
Please note that the telephone is case sensitive - i.e. make sure that you
use the correct case when you enter the User ID and the computer name.
You can activate the option"Use compression" as required. If activated,
G.729 is used for voice compression, instead of G.711.
Under "Registration", you can specify, if a SIP connection should be
established as necessary only (outgoing call), or if you want
a permanent connection.
You do not need to configure a proxy server, it is sufficient to set up a
Registrar. To do this, select "Registrar server".
Enter the computer name of the SwyxServer under "Registrar serv. addr."
and under "Realm". Please note, that these fields are case sensitive.
Fill in "User name" and "Password" with the data you used for SwyxWare.
Select "UDP" as "Transport type" and use the default value "5060"
as "Port". Save this SIP profile by choosing three times "Back"
(bottom right on the display). You are now in the Connection menu.
Select the option "Internet tel. settings" and create an Internet Telephony profile.
You can choose any "Name" e.g. "SwyxDefault".
Under "SIP profiles", select the SIP connection to be associated with this
telephony profile. Save this profile by choosing "Back" (bottom right at the display).
This concludes the configuration.
3. How to make a VoIP call?
To make a VoIP call, simply enter a number and choose "Select"
(bottom left at the display) -> Call -> Internet Call.
