Summary

This knowledge base article describes the various versions of the SwyxConnect box (Annex A/B) and includes an overview of which countries are using which format (Annex A /B). The overview is believed to be correct, but cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on the respective Provider whether Annex A or Annex B is used.

Information

SwyxConnect Annex A / B

SwyxConnect exist in an Annex A and an Annex B variant. These terms refer to the specifications of the ADSL Connection over which the SwyxConnect can be connected to the ADSL network. There are three SwyxConnect variants in relation to the supported ADSL Interface:

  1. ADSL/ADSL2+ of over ISDN after International Telecommunication Union G.992.1/G.992.5 .Annex B (compatibly to the U-R2 connection of the German Telekom). Annex B utilises a narrow frequency spectrum and is used in Germany, Switzerlandand Norway.
  2. ADSL /ADSL2 + over POTS after International Telecommunication Union G.992.1/G.992.5. Annex A utilises a wider frequency spectrum for the transmission of data and is used in the UK and in the major parts of Italy, Spain, France and Iceland
  3. ADSL /ADSL2 + over POTS after International Telecommunication Union  G.992.1/G.992.5 Annex A with Power connection for Great Britain.

The overview is believed to be correct, but cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on the respective Provider Whether Annex A or Annex B is used. So it can be possible that a Provider in an Annex B dominate country would use Annex A instead of Annex B. The rule of thumb is: Annex A is intended for the use in North America, UK and France, Annex B in Germany and Switzerland.
