Kirk IP600: Subscription of a third party handset (kb3056)

Summary

Subscription of a third party handset at a Kirk IP600 DECT system.

To logon a third party handset the GAP standard and a "R"-key is required. The configuration is done via standard browser, supporting java.

This description is usable for the following firmware version of a Kirk IP600 DECT system:

V5.01 rel ip600[SWYX_02]

How to get the IPEI of your handset, using the tracing from Kirk IP600:

1. If you already know the IPEI of your handset, you can directly proceed with the creation of a new user.

2. Open a web browser (with Java extension) and address the
IP600 by entering the IP address of the IP600.

3. Select “Gateway | Config | General Settings” with the parameters “user="admin”" and
“Password="ip600”. Check that all trace-options are disabled, to minimize the logging output.

4. Select "Config | DECT Interface | DECT-GW". Enable the trace-checkbox and set the DECT/ISM loglevel to "1". Press the buttons "Save" and "Activate", to store settings and activate them.

5. Minimize the Gateway configuration and get back to the main webadministration. Click on "Diagnostics | Trace". If any trace lines are displayed, click again on "Diagnostics | Trace", to delete them.

6. Now start a subscription with your handset and after that click again on "Diagnostics | Trace". Now three trace-lines should be displayed, which will list the IPEI of your handset.

7. After you know your IPEI, you can disable the logging for DECT/ISM again, by disabling the trace-checkbox.

This is how you create a new user in the IP600: 
1. Select “Gateway | Users”.

2. Select "New".

Enter the following parameters for the new user:
• Name
You can enter any user name you want.
• Nickname
User Alias. This name must be the same as the one entered
in SwyxWare as the H.323 alias.
• Number
Is not used, leave empty.
• Display
Text that appears on the handset if it is logged on to the basis
station.
IPEI
Unique hardware address of the handset
• AC (Access Code)
Is not used, leave empty.
• Password
Is not used, leave empty.

3. Confirm your entry with OK.

4. After you have created a new user and the IPEI of your handset is configured, you can subscribe at the Kirk IP600 DECT system.
