New SwyxPhone Series consisting of L620, L640, L660 and L680

Dual-Mode Support in SwyxIt! Mobile V6.20
SwyxIt! Mobile (Symbian) offers dual-mode support from V6.20. In doing so, Swyx combines the two most important technical approaches in Fixed Mobile Convergence: If there is a suitable WLAN infrastructure in the company, SIP/WLAN can be used for phone calls. If SIP/WLAN is not available, the GSM cellular network is used. Selected Nokia Dual Mode mobile phones which run under the Symbian 3rd Edition operating system (e.g. E65, E61i, E90) are supported. Using a white list, the SwyxServer automatically detects during SIP registration whether the mobile phone concerned has Dual-Mode capability. In this case, the SIP mode is displayed in the SwyxIt! Mobile user interface. Please note, that it is possible that the SIP stack required for dual mode has been deactivated or removed by the cellular network operator.
In SIP mode too, all calls are routed via the SwyxServer/ MEM. In contrast to many competitor products, all SwyxIt! Mobile features are also available in SIP mode. The user can select a preferred mode, e.g.:
- use only SIP
- first SIP. If SIP not available, then GSM
The current mode (SIP or GSM) is displayed in SwyxIt! Mobile. The main features of dual-mode support are as follows:
- Calls are routed over the company-internal WLAN network without affecting costs
- SIP/WLAN and GSM mode in a single application
- Real alternative to DECT Multicell systems
- Roaming between WLAN and GSM
- All SwyxIt! Mobile functions are also available in SIP mode (Hold, Call Swap, Transfer, Conference, Set Forwarding, Voicemail checking, Conversation Recording)
Active Directory Integration
SwyxWare Version 6.20 enables integration into the Microsoft Active Directory management tools. This makes it easier for the administrator to manage even major SwyxWare installations:
- SwyxWare user administration can be handled within the Microsoft Active Directory management tools
- There is an additional tab in the Windows Properties (as for Microsoft Exchange)
- Adding users via Active Directory leads automatically to the setting up of a user in the SwyxWare
- Deletion of a user in the Active Directory leads automatically to the deletion of a user in the SwyxWare
Skin Preview

- SwyxIt! with Skin Preview
The new Skin Preview lets SwyxIt! users view the current selected skin before loading. The precondition is that the skin contains a preview bitmap. This is the case with all skins supplied by Swyx. SwyxIt! generates this bitmap automatically when saving the skin. It takes into account the user’s individual customizations of supplied skins, as well as their completely new skins.
Definition of a System Standard Skin
It is now possible to specify and/or change a system-wide Standard Skin. This new/changed skin is then automatically used after the next logon by all users. This was not previously possible in existing SwyxWare installations. Administrators can use this method to simplify the implementation of company guidelines, for example, such as those for corporate design. It also makes it easier to implement certain SwyxIt! Web extensions uniformly throughout the company.
Improvements to the Caller Lists
In Version V6.20, forwarded calls are given an additional entry with Caller ID (if available) for the caller, as well as the number of the forwarder.
Example:
Employee A in the central office picks up an external call. He forwards the call to employee B. Previously, B’s caller list contained only the call from the central office (employee A). In Version 6.20 there is an additional entry in this case, with the original external caller and Caller ID (if available).
Definable Standard Line
It is possible to specify one of the lines of the SwyxIt! or of a SwyxPhone as the standard line. When a call is ended, this line is automatically selected and thus used for new outgoing calls. Naturally the user can also select any line manually before dialing. The mechanism also works on the SwyxPhones. In this case the default line is not set via the telephone menu, but within SwyxIt! or the SwyxWare Web Administration.
Improvements to the Tracing Tool
The Tracing Tool has been further enhanced. The following functions are possible:
- Compression of trace files
- Possibility of uploading SwyxWare configuration files
- Possibility of uploading network configurations
Further improvements to SwyxIt! Mobile
Since Version V6.12 of SwyxIt! Mobile it has been possible to import the XML-based configuration settings as a configuration file. This simplifies the administrative tasks, and enables the company to implement a standardized company and security policy. With SwyxIt! Mobile V6.20, the configuration file can also be imported via URL. A mobile import is also possible in this way (provided there is the necessary data connection).
In addition, SwyxIt! Mobile for Windows has a new large dialpad in Version 6.20. Dialing within SwyxIt! Mobile has become much more convenient.
Link to the Swyx Website in SwyxIt!
SwyxIt! gets two new menu items:
- Support Update Check: If this menu item is selected in Swyxit! Help, the corresponding Swyx web page is opened with the “Support Update Check”. This tells the user which SwyxIt! version he is presently using, and whether a newer version may be available.
- Skin Download: If the user selects this SwyxIt! menu item, it will let him see whether there is a new skin ready for download on the relevant Swyx website.
